Robert Andino got just one chance at the plate today and he made good use of it in the tenth inning with a walk off, solo homerun to give the Marlins their first win of the season. This would have been a tough game to lose because the Marlins pasted Pedro Martinez for four runs in the first two innings only to see their lead disappear by the fifth inning. Dan Uggla also went yard and he finished with two RBIs while Alfredo Amezaga split time between centerfield and third base and he picked up two hits and a run in the 5-4 wint.
Rick VandenHurk didn’t last too long in this one and he gave up three of the four Mets runs in three innings of work. Kevin Gregg walked two batters in the ninth but he got out of the jam and Justin Miller pitched a perfect tenth inning to pick up his first win of the season.
Andrew Miller gets the start tomorrow in the rubber game. Marlins hitters will face Oliver Perez and it sure would be nice if the Marlins could limp out of the series with another win against a top notch team.
