Marlins Three Game Winning Streak Ends After Loss to Pirates

by @ 6:01 pm. Filed under 2008 Marlins

The Marlins are still in first place regardless of what happens in any of the other games and they remain in first despite a 3-2 loss to the Pirates tonight.  Ricky Nolasco had just one bad inning but it was enough after the Marlins failed to get their bats going.  The three run sixth inning was all it took for Nolasco to fall to 1-2 and he gave up five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.

Jorge Cantu had a monster game.  He went three for four with a homerun and two RBIs.  Hanley Ramirez went two for five and he scored a run.

So the Marlins settle for a split in their two game series with the Pirates.  Next up is a pair of games against the currently second place Braves.  A sweep here would go a long way towards padding their lead in the division.  And yes, I can’t believe I’m talking about the Marlins padding a division lead.
