Florida opened up the 3 game series against the Atlanta Braves in a 7-5 9th inning loss. The loss is the 2nd in a row for the Marlins. They now look at a 31-25 record and sit in the number 2 spot in the NL East.

The 2 RBI give him 28 for the season and the triple was his 2nd of the year. Dan Uggla also had a nice game hitting 2 doubles and going 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. The doubles give him 21 for the season and his batting average now stnads at .297. Luis Gonzalez chipped in as well going 2-for-5 with 1 RBI. The RBI is his 22nd this season and his batting average is now .302.

He didn’t receive the win for his effort though because the Braves were leading when he left. Kevin Gregg came in to close out the game but had a little trouble and was given his 3rd blown save. The loss went to Logan Kensing who never made it through an out but gave up 1 hit, 2 runs, 1 walk which were the result of a home run. His record now stands at 3-1 with a 4.00 ERA.
Would have been a good win if the fish could have held on. They were down 4-3 when they entered the 9th inning and they put together 2 runs to take a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately the Braves didn’t give up and the got 1 run in the bottom of the 9th to tie it at 5, then got 2 runs to take the 7-5 win. Game 2 will take place on Tuesday with the Marlins looking to even the series.
