Johan Santana Too Much For Marlins

by @ 5:31 pm. Filed under 2008 Marlins

The Marlins lost their home opener but there’s not a lot of shame in losing to the best pitcher in baseball.  Josh Willingham tagged Johan for a two run homer in the fourth inning but that’s all they could manage in the 7-2 loss.  Luis Gonzalez was the only regular who didn’t strike out in the contest.

Mark Hendrickson threw three shutout innings to start things up but then he gave up six runs in the fourth.  Ricky Nolasco threw three shutout innings of relief but there’s no dramatic comeback story here.

The Marlins don’t get a day off and it’ll be Rick VandenHurk going up against Pedro Martinez.  I’m not sure how good our chances are in this game either.
