Cameron Maybin got a chance to hit after earlier coming in as a pinch runner and he made the best of it. His two run, ninth inning homer was just enough to give the Marlins a 2-1 win earlier today. It was only one of five hits by the Marlins in the spring pitcher’s duel. Jorge Cantu had two of those hits and he was the guy who Maybin pinch ran for.
Mark Hendrickson looked sharp on the mound. He gave up just a single run on three hits with six strikeouts in the win. Doug Waechter threw three shutout innings to close out the game and he picked up the save.
Tomorrow, we go back to the day games with the Mets on deck. Ricky Nolasco gets the start for the Fish.
